Vienna-born, and an important pioneer of the electric Fusion movement, recorded with Miles on two of his most pivotal recordings—In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew—providing him compositions (the title track on the former; "Pharoah's Dance" on the latter); later co-founded the influential fusion group Weather Report with Wayne Shorter, and led his own band.
