Saxophonist most associated with Miles' return in the early 1980s, later a bandleader and featured soloist in his own right, touring and/or recording with jazz and more mainstream headliners like Herbie Hancock and John McLaughlin, as well as Mick Jagger and Willie Nelson. The irony that he had the same name as his pianist in 1958 and 1959 was not lost on Miles; when the pianist passed away in 1981 and a news reporter called him for a reaction, Miles said, "He's right here," and passed the phone to the saxophonist.
