Miles’ Live-Evil turned 50 last week and in celebration, a special limited edition colored vinyl edition will be released for Record Store Day’s Black Friday event. The jazz-funk landmark double LP is a 100-minute workout of hard grooves and rhythmic explorations that was recorded live during his legendary 1970 stand at Washington, D.C.’s Cellar Door and then edited by producer Teo Macero.
This album features Miles joined by a formidable crew of top-flight musicians: Gary Bartz, John McLaughlin, Keith Jarrett, Michael Henderson, Jack DeJohnette and Airto Moreira. The album’s striking cover by legendary illustrator Mati Klarwein is complemented by two discs pressed on exclusive limited edition opaque teal colored vinyl.
