THE REVIVALIST EXPLORES THE INTERSECTION OF HIP HOP & JAZZ WITH BITCHES BREW PROFILE, CELEBRATING 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF MILES DAVIS’S JAZZ-ROCK-FUNK FUSION MASTERPIECE, FEATURING VINCE WILBURN, JR. (NEPHEW OF MILES DAVIS) AND DJ LOGIC
The Kings of New York aka DJ Logic and Vince Wilburn, Jr. are chillin’ in Williamsburg following their taped spot for “The Revivalist,” a new blog located at http://revive-music.com, housed within ?uest Love’s Okayplayer site. The Revivalist explored the intersection of hip hop and jazz with Logic and Wilburn, and will continue to do so this fall (during CMJ) and March 2011 at SXSW.
Wilburn was in NYC to tape “Brewed,” a new Discovery Channel show on the beer industry which profiled the new Bitches Brew Ale by Dogfish. This year marks the 40th Anniversary of Bitches Brew, widely renowned as Miles Davis’s jazz-funk-rock-fusion masterpiece. Sony Music/Legacy Recordings will re-issue the work in two different configurations available on August 31and September 14 (for the deluxe edition).
Meanwhile, Wilburn’s getting busy with the forthcoming Bitches Brew 40th Re-Mix performance at Silverlake’s Sunset Junction Fair on Saturday, August 21 at 7:30 p.m. on The Bates Stage. The highly eclectic performance will feature Miles alumni including Wallace Roney and Badal Roy for a classic set, that will blend into the contemporary, with a live re-mix by acclaimed eastside DJ, J.Rocc (the Beat Junkies).
