Marcus Miller
Position:
Bass Clarinet, Composer, Drums, Electric Bass, Guitar, Keyboards, Producer, Soprano Saxophone
Year of Birth:
1959
Years with Miles:
1981-1989
A multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer equally adept—and successful—in the worlds of R&B, pop, and jazz, from the late 1970s to the present day. An accomplished electric bassist, he first recorded and performed Miles in that capacity from 1981 to 1983; in 1986 they reunited with Miller as his producer and musical collaborator, a relationship that generated popular albums and a late-career boost. (Incidentally, Miles' pianist Wynton Kelly was Miller's cousin.)
