SFJAZZ Kicks Off Miles Davis Celebration With ‘Miles From India’ May 7

On Friday, May 7th at 5PM PT, SFJAZZ kicks off their month-long Miles Davis Celebration by presenting Miles From India, a project devoted to re-imagining Davis’ music by an ensemble made up of Miles Davis alumni, today’s jazz greats, and a host of master Indian classical musicians.

Performing the music from the highly acclaimed 2008 recording, this all-star group features Davis’ nephew and drummer Vince Wilburn, Jr., the late drumming icon Ndugu Chancler, keyboardist Adam Holzman, bassist Daryl Jones, saxophonist Javon Jackson, trumpeter Tim Hagans, khanjira virtuoso V. Selvaganesh, guitarist Rez Abbasi, ghaṭam percussionist Vikku Vinayakram, and V.K. Raman on flute and vocals.
