Miles Davis Statue Unveiling Set For September 12 In Alton, IL

The Miles Davis Memorial Project committee is inviting the entire Riverbend community and fans from around the world to attend the unveiling ceremonies and celebration of the completion of the statue of renowned musician Miles Dewey Davis III on Sept. 12 in Alton, IL.

Area residents who visited downtown West Third Street in Alton recently would have noticed construction taking place for the music plaza where the sculpture is soon to be located. The stone wall, which will surround the music staff design, is underway, and sculptor Preston Jackson is preparing the mold in preparation for the final phase of pouring the bronze.
