‘Miles Davis At Newport 1955-1975’ Wins DownBeat Critics Poll

Miles Davis At Newport 1955-1975: The Bootleg Series Vol. 4 has won the 64th Annual DownBeat Magazine International Critics Poll for Best Historical Album. The 4-CD collection features primarily never-before-released performances from a 20-year period when Miles delivered groundbreaking music every time he hit the stage under the Newport banner.

The release previously won the JazzTimes Readers Poll for 2015 Best Historical/Vault/Reissue, marking the fourth time a box set in Miles’ critically-acclaimed, best-selling Bootleg Series has won the JazzTimes Readers Poll in this category. Additionally, it was honored as the Reissues/Archive Album of the Year by the 2015 Jazzwise Albums of the Year Critics Poll. In previous years, the Miles Davis Bootleg Series Vol. 2 and Vol. 3 have won this category. The 2016 NAACP Image Awards also recognized the work with a win for “Outstanding Jazz Album.”
